About
Uncle Alias is about videogames (and other geeky pursuits) from an adult perspective (namely, mine). It used to be hosted by Gameblogs, at which time it was called Grownup Gamer (somebody else is using that name, so I changed it).
As for me, my name is Casey Sillito (aka UncleAlias, Mrfalcon). I live in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Professional Certificate in Multimedia Technology, both from the University of Lethbridge. I suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but when I’m not feeling too tired, I like to dabble in independant game design. I recently finished my first completed game in many years, Loot, which was a prominently featured game at YoYo Games.
I started playing games on an Intellivision that my dad brought home when I was 5. When I was 12 my parents bought me a Commodore 64, on which I made my first (mostly unsuccessful) attempts at game design. I’ve been a computer-only gamer ever since then until breaking down and buying a 2nd-hand Playstation 2 a few years ago and, more recently, a Nintendo DS. I enjoy First-Person Shooters, 2D platformers, small innovative indy games and “tactics”-style console games. I believe that “Real Time Strategy” is an oxymoron, but any game description with “Turn-based” in it is sure to get my attention*. I believe that fun is more important than realism, and that simplification and abstraction is an important part of making a fun game.
